Fundación Magistra (Uruguay)

Magistra Foundation was established in 2011, at a time of crisis in the regional associations framework in Uruguay. One of the aims of the foundation is to maintain a strong bond with Italy and for this reason it is a point of reference for various Italian and local institutions as it promotes exchange activities in different sectors. Magistra has promoted and implemented activities of national and departmental interest in Uruguay. It has aided in the development of city partnerships by twinning the cities of Diano Marina (Italy) and Piriapoli (Uruguay), as well as Teggiano (Italy) and Florida (Uruguay). The foundation has promoted several activities in the field of youth inclusion through sports such as the regatta “Noi venuti dal mare” which commemorated the marginalization of Italian immigrants in Uruguay. This project includes information sessions and conferences which aim at expanding renewable energy production in Uruguay and Argentina. The Magistra Director Dr.ssa Cinzia Frigo has extensive experience in the field of exchange and youth training from working at the Ministry of Labour for Italians abroad.

The aims and main purposes of the Foundation are:
  • Promote the development of activities and events aimed at endorsing cultural, social, educational, and scientific research, training and sports activities of the widest spectrum among the institutions linked to these objectives, with particular emphasis on Italian and/or regional (Italian) and/or European Union institutions
  • Organize, promote and cooperate in projects of economic, social, cultural, scientific, energetic, health and institutional development in Italy and/or in Italian regions and/or in the European Union.
  • Cooperate with national, diplomatic, consular and international agencies in search of reciprocal interest in the areas of knowledge
  • Promote, organize and/or take part in events, congresses, seminars, courses to strengthen the link between Italy and MERCOSUR, with emphasis on the relationship Italy - Uruguay
  • Promote, organize and/or participate in educational activities surrounding exchange programs with Universities, Training Schools, national or international Organizations that are dedicated to educational, economic, social development and the protection of the environment.
  • Encourage the recovery of the Historical Cultural Heritage of Italy and its regions, with emphasis on the territorial framework of the “Rio de la Plata” region
